Generations of Cellphone & Blockchain

Can you remember back before the iPhone in 2008? How many note cards or reference guides did you carry?

I was a 2nd-year resident when my Cheif Resident (Dr. Truxillo) started chatting with me about the soon to be released iPhone. See, the two of us realized the transition that was about to unfold with the app store. We envisioned ways to make our lives as residents more convenient and began our iPhone development journey: Case Logs, Instant ECG, Pedi Safe, ACLS, ECHO Views, etc.

Before the iPhone, there were two prior generations, the plain old cellphone brick and then the flip phone (RAZR anyone?).

I share this story as an analogy to what I see developing in the blockchain community.

1st generation Bitcoin, 2nd generation Ethereum, and now a 3rd generation blockchain is entering the picture – Cardano (ADA)

I know, I know, I know… cryptocurrency.

Some of you will turn off right away, dismiss it because of a lack of use cases, or because of many other concerns.

But, do you remember the wave of naysayers about the iPhone (Blackberry anyone?)

As Mike and I have been watching this market, we are becoming more confident that this 3rd Generation will likely grab hold so much that we are going to start developing DApps on top of Cardano and have started a stake pool called SAGE Cardano Staking.

There is an excellent video from the founder of Cardano named Charles Hoskinson explaining the differences between 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd generation blockchain. HE made it back in 2017 and this network just launched mainnet last week.

1st, 2nd, 3rd Generation Blockchain

If you watch the video, please reply and let me know what you think on Twitter @SAGE_Cardano
